Glasses and Tokens
Festival glasses are for purchase only and carry the festival logo for 2024, as shown above. The glasses available in 2024 will be:
- Pint glass (also marked for ½ pints)
- Stemmed half-pint beer glass
Each of these costs £4.60 (or £4.00 if you order in advance with your ticket) and is yours to keep as a memento of the event. These non-refundable glasses can be purchased at Ingrow, Keighley and Oxenhope.
If you do not wish to purchase or do not have a glass, you will be provided with a disposable plastic glass at the bar.
Like many similar events, drink sales will be by token, not cash. The main festival bar at Oxenhope, brewery bars at Oxenhope, Ingrow & Keighley, cider bars at Oxenhope & Ingrow, the wine & gin bar at Oxenhope and on-train bars will all accept tokens. A drink token usually gets you a half-pint of most draught beers and ciders, but lesser quantities may be served, or more tokens may be required for some higher ABV or more expensive beers. A variable number of drink tokens can also be used to purchase wines or gin & tonic at Oxenhope.
Individual Drink Tokens: £2.50 or a card of 7 tokens: £16.50
Drink tokens will be sold at Oxenhope, Ingrow & Keighley locations. Both on-train bars will also sell drink tokens. We accept payment by both cash and credit/debit cards.
Drink tokens will be valid for all four days of the event, so if you have tokens left over on one day, you can use them on any of the other days. Ensure you do not buy too many tokens, as they can’t be used after this event and are strictly non-refundable.
Note: The railway does not have a cash machine at any stations. The nearest cash machines to our stations are:
- Keighley: ASDA supermarket, 3 min walk from Keighley station
- Haworth: Local SPAR store opposite the Station
- Oxenhope: Oxenhope village local CO-OP store, a 10 min walk into the village from Oxenhope station.
Transport Information
Passengers from Oakworth
As our event becomes busier every year, we must run trains longer than the platform at Oakworth station. This, coupled with the relatively dim historic gaslighting, means that trains cannot call at Oakworth (or Damems) after approximately 6 PM on Friday & Saturday evenings (see the timetable when published for specific details).
To ensure that customers living in Oakworth can still enjoy the event, we will offer free bus service on Friday 13th & Saturday, 14th of October, linking Oxenhope station with Oakworth Village (the bus cannot call at Oakworth station).
Route Information
The buses will depart from the top of the station car park at Oxenhope Station.
Oxenhope Station (top of the Car Park) depart: 1940 and 2115 and 2250
Oakworth (Station Road Top) arrive: 1955 and 2130 and 2305
Route to Oakworth will be from Oxenhope via Moorhouse Lane, Marsh Lane, Sun Street, Rawdon Road, Mytholmes Lane, Providence Lane, then the stop on the main road near the top of Station Road (with a route via Slaymaker Lane, Cure Hill and Windsor Road back to Providence Lane to turn round, but can drop off round that circle if required).
Connecting Hebden Bridge Bus Service to and from Oxenhope
The Keighley Bus Company service B3 provides a service linking Oxenhope with Hebden Bridge Railway Station (for connections to Halifax and towards Manchester and East Lancashire) until early evening. Timetable for this service, which stops on the road close to the entrance to the station car park, can be viewed on The Keighley Bus Company’s website.
Route Information
In addition to the above, we will also offer a supplementary evening service of free buses operating over the same route on the Friday and Saturday of the event. The buses will depart from the top of station car park at Oxenhope and will operate at the times shown below:
Oxenhope (Bus Stop by station car park entrance) depart: 2020 and 2155
Hebden Bridge Railway Station arrive: 2045 and 2220
The buses will drop off at Peckett Well and Hebden Bridge Albert Street on request to the driver.
General Information
The Beer and Music Festival, along with all activities on the Railway, are brought to you by our volunteers who give up their free time to organise and run this event and all the operational and maintenance activities which allow our trains to run. We always need more volunteers, so please see the Volunteering page on the KWVR website for more information if you are interested in joining us.
Challenge 25
The Railway operates the ‘Think 25’ policy with regard to the sale and consumption of alcohol. If you are lucky enough to look under 25 you will be asked to prove that you are at least 18 years of age, so please ensure you bring an appropriate ID with you. Please do not be offended if asked; if only we were all lucky enough to still look young!
We will have a stock of ‘Age Verified’ wristbands to avoid you getting asked for ID on multiple occasions.
Children under five travel free on our trains, and children aged 5 to 15 can travel at reduced fares.
Accompanied children are welcome in our Festival Venues at Oxenhope and Ingrow until 2000 and are admitted free. According to the Licensing Act 2003, unaccompanied children cannot attend our Festival Venues at Oxenhope and Ingrow. Please remember that the event can get jam-packed sometimes, and some music can be very loud.
Dogs are prohibited on Friday or Saturday due to how busy the railway is.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at the event and on our trains on Thursday & Sunday, subject to their owners ensuring that their dogs do not cause a distraction to the operation of the train or inconvenience and difficulties to other customers. In addition, dogs are not allowed onto carriage seats.
Please remember that the event can get jam-packed sometimes, and some music can be very loud. Please consider your dog’s well-being and do not bring it along if crowds or loud music may distress it.
